Our initial meeting with Potomac Point Winery uncovered some primary issues they needed to resolve their current website was giving them.
First, the need for a fresh and clean look was a big priority as the site’s last design update was eight years prior. This meant modern expectations, such as being responsive to various screen sizes, were not being addressed. Considering that mobile traffic to their website was over 60% of their visitors, this was our primary starting point.
Second, PPW’s online store was cumbersome and disorganized, ultimately costing them significant amounts in online sales and personnel costs. A new face to the current program was needed while PPW chose a new winery e-commerce vendor. To be clear, shipping of alcohol across state lines carries its own set of rules that Edwin Marie does not handle. However, working with the tech team from any vendor PPW would ultimately choose was something we were more than capable of handling.
Finally, since PPW relies on hosting private events as a core revenue generator, there needed to be a concerted effort to appeal to a diverse clientele. The design needed to appeal to those looking into weddings, private parties, and wine tastings.
