Our initial meeting with Potomac Point Winery uncovered some primary issues they needed to resolve their current website was giving them. First, the need for a fresh and clean look was a big priority since the website had not seen a new design refresh in over eight years. This meant that modern expectations such as a mobile responsive website were not offered. Considering that mobile traffic to their website was over 60% of their visitors, their need to address this was up there regarding importance.
Additionally, their online store had been faltering for the previous six months ultimately costing them significant amounts in online sales plus their staff was having to manually call, document, order, ship, track, and charge for every transaction which is ultimately not an ideal way to run an e-commerce site. Furthermore, shipping of alcohol across state lines carries its own set of rules that most companies are not subject to meet.
Finally, since the vineyard relies on multiple types of events as a primary revenue stream, there needed to be a concerted effort to appeal to the diverse clients looking into weddings, private parties, and wine tastings.
